Most people make these mistakes when they are trying to rank high on Google and be at the top of the search results.

I guarantee you after you’ve read this guide and truly grasp the information I’m about to give you:

You will always be at the top of the search results on Google, and you’ll have loads of potential customers coming to your website and buying your products and services in no time.

Let's get into it.

How Does Google Rank Pages?

First, we need to understand how exactly Google works in order to actually exploit it.

Google’s ranking algorithms are designed to sort through billions of webpages to meet search intent by offering the most relevant and useful results within the shortest time possible.

These algorithms are extremely complex. But forming a comprehensive SEO strategy—and following the steps in this guide—can help you rank higher on Google.

Step #1: Reduce Your Bounce Rate

Our next step is to improve your site’s bounce rates. Bounce rate is when someone comes to your website and goes off it straight away.

Why does this matter?

Well, Google doesn’t like to see people landing on a site and quickly bouncing back to the search results.

This is (often) a clear sign to Google that people aren’t happy. And if users aren’t happy, you can kiss your rankings bye-bye.

Lining up your content with search intent is a good way to improve your bounce rate. After all, you’re giving a searcher what they’re looking for. Why would they bounce?

Step #2: Match Your Content to Search Intent

Search intent is a vital consideration for any successful SEO campaign. It basically means you make content that people will search for.

Why?

Google can figure out if your site is a good fit for a specific keyword.

Look at what people are looking for with your content and make content around that so if people are looking for:

“How to get started in marketing” or “Tips for advertising,” make content based around that search intent. This will increase your search engine traffic, solve a problem, and help massively with your SEO.

Look at what is already on the first page on Google and use that as innovation, making content around that topic. Use it as inspiration, of course, for your own niche where you specialize.

If you want to improve your Google ranking, your page needs to be a GREAT fit for what someone’s searching for.

Step #3: Find Even More Keywords to Target

To get even MORE traffic to your site in the fastest way possible.

And the easiest way to do that?

Optimize your page around several different keywords.

So I’d want to go to my web pages, add that exact phrase a few times, and expand on the example a little bit.

I could also create a completely new page optimized around that certain keyword.

So, for example, if my word was “conversion,” I’d make several blog posts about conversion rate and how to increase it, etc., using the word “conversion” every chance I get. This will allow you to rank higher when people search for that on Google.

Step #4: Publish Insanely High-Quality Content

You’ve probably heard that to rank in Google, “you need to publish high-quality content,” and this couldn’t be more true.

Now what exactly does “high quality” mean?

We can assume high-quality content in society’s eyes is content that has a lot of engagement and is shared a lot, so we need to make the type of high-quality content that people share on social media and link to. That’s because, as you might already know, Google’s algorithm takes into account backlinks.

The more backlinks your site has, the higher you may be able to rank.

Publish content that people will actually link to, such as: data content, visual content, infographics, charts, videos, flowcharts, etc

- Data content

- Visual content

- Infographics

- Charts

- Videos

- Flowcharts, etc.

Visual content is GREAT for getting links.

Step #5: Track and Monitor Your Results

We need to track and monitor your SEO results to see what's working and what isn’t because if something isn't working, it will need changing, e.g., adding a better page or more keywords.

How do you keep tabs on your SEO results without manually checking your rankings every hour?

That’s what this step is all about. I’m going to show you how to track your results like a pro.

Google Analytics Organic Traffic

Use Google Analytics to measure all the organic traffic coming to your website—this tells us if what we are doing is working, if the search intent is being met, and if we are ranking high. If organic traffic is high, that means a lot of people are finding us on Google, which is good and means not a lot needs changing.

The graph will also show you a chart of where people are finding you outside of organic traffic, e.g., referrals, direct, socials, etc. This tells us what we need to double down on and what we need to fix. What avenue of our content needs to be more equipped.

Google Search Console Impressions and Clicks

This is within Google Analytics.

This report in Google Search Console basically shows you how many people came to your site and how many of those people took an action, e.g., clicked a button on your site.

Obviously, the more people, the better, but it also shows you if what we are doing is working or not.

If not, we need to improve the strategy or make more content using the tips I’ve given.

Tracking Leads and Sales

This basically means: are the people who come to your website buying your product or services?

Many people don’t take this super important factor into account.

But if you want to get a huge ROI from SEO, you need to know if all these new visitors are turning into customers.

There are a million and one ways to track this. But one way is through Google Analytics 4 key events. (I’ll make another post on this soon, so follow me, and I’ll notify you when this drops.)

Step #6: Improve Your On-Site SEO

This is one of the FASTEST ways to improve your Google rankings.

That’s because you can optimize your page in about 2 minutes and start to see a rankings boost within days.

Question is:

How do you optimize your site around your target keywords?

First, make sure that your keyword is toward the beginning of your title tag.

This is called “Frontloading” your keyword.

Why is this important?

Well, Google reads your page title to help it understand what your page is about, and so putting your keywords at the start can suggest to its algorithms that these words are the most important.

The closer the keyword to the beginning of your title, the better it is for SEO.

So, for example, if you're a marketer, you could say “improve your marketing with this simple hack,” with “marketing” being the main keyword.

Step #7: Monitor Your Technical SEO

Technical SEO problems can really damage your site’s SEO rankings.

The first thing I recommend is to double-check that your site is optimized for mobile devices. Over half of the world’s website traffic is on mobile devices.

Use your website on your phone yourself and check for factors such as:

- Loading speed

- Layout

- If it’s all working

- If all the keywords and stuff from your desktop site are there

Make sure your domain is set up and working fully and there are no technical issues with it—this can affect your SEO as well, as Google will not trust a domain flagged as fishy.

Use Google to authenticate your domain for DKIM or alternatively use something such as MXtoolkit to check your domain's health.

It’s like putting a scammer on the first homepage of Amazon—it’s not feasible. We need Google to trust our domain.

Step #8: Include Meaningful Visuals

Including visuals can help you rank higher in search results. And provide a better user experience.

Because it also allows you to get into Google images and people will visit your website from there. You can use charts and graphs to illustrate data sets. Or add high-quality images to show off a location or product or other physical thing. It's a great opportunity to boost backlinks and conversion rate.

Step #9: Add LSI Keywords to Your Page

LSI keywords (latent semantic indexing) are an advanced on-page SEO tactic, and I’m going to make sure you're equipped with it.

But: what the heck are LSI keywords?

They’re words and phrases that are related to the topic of your page.

So, for example, let's use the word “coffee.” LSI words related to it are:

- Water

- Beans

- Machine

- Drinks

- Energy

- Morning

You get the point. You can also type the word into Google, and loads of related words will come up, or you could actually ask ChatGPT for this.
